The Dethleffs Globetrail is the result of this vast experience. It contains everything a modern camper van needs: thoughtful details, a modern ambience and an extremely impressive standard specification.
Most recently, the Globetrail was significantly upgraded with features including standard flush-fitting windows and Froli disc springs under the bed. For model year 2027, key safety assistance systems such as Emergency Brake Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, Lane Keep Assist and much more are also part of the standard specification.
And last but not least, the Dethleffs Original Accessories range includes practical products developed specifically for the Globetrail – making it even more functional.
If you’re new to the world of camper vans, there are two key questions to consider:
How long should my vehicle be?
Globetrail models are available in three lengths: 541 cm, 599 cm and 636 cm. The shorter the vehicle, the more practical it is for everyday use. The longer the vehicle, the more comfort it can offer when camping.
What are my preferred sleeping arrangements?
Single beds, double bed or pull-down bed – the Globetrail offers all three sleeping solutions, each with its own specific advantages and disadvantages. For more information, see “Sleeping”.
Once you’ve answered these two questions, you’ll be well on your way to finding your ideal camper van.
Living in the Globetrail
Living
When Dethleffs builds a camper van, you can be sure of premium quality, a perfect ambience and well thought-out solutions. After all, our designers live and breathe camping and therefore understand exactly what you want and need.
You can choose from two interior styles: COS, with warm wood and beige tones, or SCANDI, with a modern white and anthracite finish.

High-quality fabrics, tasteful colour combinations and high-quality workmanship make the Globetrail a genuine Dethleffs.
Two practical floor compartments are integrated into the platform beneath the seating lounge. The spotlight under the overhead locker can be repositioned along the lighting rail or relocated entirely, allowing you to direct focused light exactly where it’s needed.

Modern living
The SCANDI interior style gives the Globetrail a modern look, with a clean mix of white, grey and anthracite surfaces.
Travelling as a group of three or four? The optional swivel table extension adds valuable extra space when you need it. Discreetly tucked away beneath the tabletop, it can be swung out when needed – creating extra space and linking the table to the passenger seat.

Living area with centre bathroom
The centre bathroom’s shower cubicle forms the link between the bedroom and living room. The shower tray is recessed into the floor, while an insert provides a stable, secure surface underfoot. When you want to shower, simply remove the insert.
The centre bathroom’s tambour door not only encloses the shower cubicle – it also creates a useful partition between the rear of the vehicle and the living room. That means you can stay up and watch TV in the seating lounge while your partner sleeps undisturbed in the rear bed.
As in every Globetrail model, the heating is tucked neatly into the bench seat. This means the warm air doesn’t have to travel far – it is produced right where you need it.
The image shows the standard table. A version with a swivel-out extension is also available as an option. This is useful if you want to use the table from the passenger seat or simply need a little extra shelf space.

Sleeping
Camping enthusiasts are true individualists – and rightly so! But there’s one thing we all have in common: the desire for a heavenly night’s sleep. Let’s face it – even the dreamiest holiday destination quickly loses its appeal if you spend the night tossing and turning with an aching back.
That’s why Dethleffs places great emphasis on a well-designed sleeping system. This includes a high-quality cold foam mattress and ergonomic suspension. In all Globetrail models, disc springs are used exclusively to provide tailored support for different parts of the body and relieve pressure for a more restful sleep.
While this setup comes as standard across the range, there’s still plenty of choice when it comes to the bedroom layout …

Sleeping in the transverse rear bed
The transverse double bed allows for a more compact overall vehicle length. If you need to transport bulky items, part of the bed can be folded up. The step-up panel at the bed entrance can be easily removed, allowing long items to be loaded through to the cab.
The ambient lighting (option) above the overhead lockers sets the mood perfectly after sunset. Spotlights mounted on a rail system can be repositioned to provide focused light wherever it’s needed – perfect for reading, for example. -
Sleeping in the rear transverse beds
The transverse beds provide an extra-large sleeping area. One key benefit of single beds is that you can get up during the night without disturbing your partner.
Under the left-hand bed (driver’s side), you’ll find a spacious storage compartment plus a wardrobe with a clothes rail – ideal for transporting jackets, shirts and blouses without creasing them.
When transporting bulky items or for easy access to the rear, the bed can be folded up. And because the step-up panel at the front can be easily removed, even very long items can be stowed – turning the Globetrail into a practical transporter in no time.
There’s generally more storage space beneath single beds than under a double bed. -
Bedroom in the 640 ES
There’s no shortage of storage space in the bedroom of the 640 ES: the large overhead lockers extend right around the room, with additional open compartments underneath on one side.
The spotlight can be positioned anywhere along the power rail, so you can place the light exactly where you need it.
A large window with blackout blind and fly screen can be fitted on the driver’s side as an option.

The single beds are positioned high enough to provide a huge amount of storage space underneath, while still leaving enough headroom below the overhead lockers.

For even more storage volume, simply fold up the centre section of the bed and you can even transport bicycles or similar large items. The access panel can be removed easily, allowing you to load long items right through to the cab.
Open compartments are built into the right-hand pedestal to help you organise your luggage. And should you ever need to find it: the fresh water tank is located here too. It sits safely in the heated area, so it won’t freeze in winter. For cleaning, access to the tank’s opening is provided under the right-hand mattress.

The flexible centre section – simple, yet remarkably practical
Are you on Team Single Bed or Team Giant Bed?
One major advantage of single beds is easy access – helped by the fact that the beds taper at the foot end. But for those on Team Giant Bed, who want as much sleeping area as possible, that same design can be a drawback.
The solution? The flexible centre section! If every square centimetre of sleeping area is needed – for kids, grandchildren or the dog to cuddle up – simply slot in the centre section. And if Team Single Bed wins the day, it can simply be left at home.
By the way: getting into bed is still easy even with the centre section in place, as the panel with the fold-out step can also be fitted at the front. -
Large pull-down bed at the rear
The Globetrail 640 HR offers a highly flexible solution for the rear area: it features a pull-down bed that can be easily adjusted in height. Depending on how the vehicle is loaded, the bed can be locked into a higher or lower position. The higher the bed, the more storage space underneath – the lower the bed, the greater the headroom.
In practice, this often means starting your journey with the bed raised to make space for luggage – even bicycles. Once you’ve arrived and unloaded, the bed can be lowered to maximise headroom and provide greater comfort for a restful night’s sleep.
It doesn’t get more flexible than that!

A pull-down bed that becomes a bunk bed
Need extra berths? In the 640 HR, an additional double bed can be installed beneath the pull-down bed (optional). While this does reduce headroom and storage space, it’s hard to find another camper van where four people can sleep so comfortably – without the need for a pop-up roof.

with a generously sized sleeping area – roomy enough for an adult. -

The thick, high-quality cold foam mattresses are the first step to a good night’s sleep. The second is the flexible disc springs beneath them. With numerous individual support points that respond sensitively to different levels of pressure, they provide optimal support for every contour of the body.
Not to mention the excellent ventilation – ensuring a healthy sleeping environment throughout the night. -
Bed access
As standard, the beds are accessed via a fold-out step integrated into the removable partition panel. Depending on your needs, this panel can be positioned further forward or back – or removed entirely.
The step can be folded away during the day if it gets in the way. -
Optional access steps
A two-step unit is optionally available, making access to the single beds even easier.
As a practical bonus, the steps double as easily accessible storage space.

The swivel bathroom
The swivel bathroom offers the most efficient use of space – by making dual use of the same area.
One moment it’s a regular bathroom … with a quick turn of the rear wall, it transforms into a plastic-lined shower cubicle.
If you enjoy showering inside your vehicle, the swivel bathroom is a top choice!

The centre bathroom
This clever bathroom solution takes up minimal floor space. Extra room to move can be created by extending the tambour door. To create the full-sized bathroom, simply pull the tambour door – which is lined with waterproof material on the inside – around the recessed shower tray in the floor.
The result is a spacious bathroom with a separate shower cubicle.
Advantages:
- Wide walkway between the bathroom and kitchen
- Generous freedom of movement when extended
- The tambour door can be used as a partition to the bedroom
Disadvantages:
- When extended, the walkway between the bathroom and kitchen is blocked
- The floor in the passageway is not completely level due to the recessed shower tray

Cooking
The kitchen in every Globetrail model comes fully equipped – with a gas hob, sink, hot water system, and plenty of storage space and shelves.
All models are fitted with electric compressor fridges as standard. The main advantage of compressor technology is its rapid cooling performance. Even at high outside temperatures – or when the vehicle is parked on a slope – the fridge reliably maintains the set operating temperature.

The generous 84-litre compressor fridge (including 6-litre freezer) is positioned at an ergonomic height for easy access.
A fold-out side extension provides extra worktop space when needed.

In all models except the 640 HR, the 84-litre fridge is positioned directly in the entrance area. This means it’s easily accessible from both inside and outside – so when you’re sitting outside the vehicle, you don’t have to go inside just to grab a cold drink.
